Deep-red, sashimi-grade cuts with a meaty texture.
About Tuna
Tuna is the deep-red, dense-fleshed, almost-beefy fish that is unlike any other seafood you cook at home. The dark red colour comes from a natural muscle protein (myoglobin) that gives Tuna its stamina in the ocean and its unmistakable meaty flavour on the plate. What we bring in is Yellowfin — the sashimi-grade tuna family — sold as loins, steaks, or belly cuts.
Nutritionally, tuna is one of the leanest, highest-protein fish available: 25–30 grams of clean protein per 100g, low in saturated fat, and a strong source of vitamin D, selenium and B12. Culinarily, it lives happily at both extremes — it is the fish for pink-in-the-middle steaks, poke bowls, sashimi, and tartare at one end, and for a proper Kerala tuna fish curry at the other.
Because Tuna oxidises quickly once cut, we only accept it when the day's landing is genuinely fresh, keep the loin whole and chilled on ice, and portion-cut it only after you confirm the order on WhatsApp.
Cuts we offer
- Loin (skin-off, boneless) — for steaks and sashimi
- Steaks (2–3 cm) — the classic pink-in-the-middle sear
- Cubes — for poke bowls and Kerala meen curry
How to cook Tuna
The gold-standard tuna sear: pat a 2–3 cm steak dry, salt aggressively, press a crust of black sesame or cracked pepper on all four sides, and sear on a very hot pan for 45 seconds per face — no more. The centre must stay ruby-red. Slice against the grain. For a Kerala-style tuna curry, cube the loin, poach very briefly in a coconut-and-tamarind gravy with fenugreek and mustard seeds, and finish in 4 minutes off the heat. For a poke bowl, cube raw sashimi-grade tuna, toss with soy, sesame oil, spring onion and rice vinegar, and pile onto rice with avocado.
How we deliver it fresh
We source from the coast in the morning, chill it on ice for the drive to Bengaluru and pack it hygienically before it leaves for your door in KR Puram, Whitefield, Marathahalli or the surrounding areas. Nothing here is frozen for days on end and nothing here is chemically treated — the only preservation is temperature. If you order in the morning we deliver the same day; if you order later, we schedule you into the next available slot on WhatsApp before we pack.
Frequently asked about Tuna
Is your Tuna sashimi grade?
When the day's landing is genuinely fresh — yes. We only recommend eating tuna raw if you have taken delivery within 24 hours and we have confirmed the source. When we cannot, we say so.
What cut should I order for a family dinner?
A 500g loin cuts into 4 generous steaks. For a curry, 700g cubed feeds 5–6 people.
Why is the colour so dark red?
It is the natural myoglobin in the muscle. Fresh Tuna is deep red, sometimes almost purple-red. As it ages, the colour turns brown — a good indicator of freshness.
